Our product and environmental certifications are available for download 24 x 7 from the table below. For Certificates of Origin (CoO), please contact Essex Magnet Wire Customer Service. Many certifications are regional. The certification list below is for magnet wire manufactured in North America. Essex also manufactures magnet wire in Europe, China, and Southeast Asia. NEMA
The magnet wire section program managed by NEMA maintains MW 1000. MW 1000 is the standard for general requirements, product specifications and test procedures for the manufacture and packaging of magnet wire. MW 1000 encompasses all existing NEMA Standards for magnet wire, including standards for round, rectangular, and square film insulated and/or fibrous covered copper and aluminum magnet wire for use in electrical apparatus. MW 1000 contains the definitions, type designations, dimensions, constructions, performance, and test methods for magnet wire generally used in the winding of coils for electrical apparatus. ISO/TS 16949: 2009 and IATF 16949:2016 ISO 9001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. IATF 16949:2016 is the global technical specification and quality management standard for the automotive industry. Based on ISO 9001:2015, it was published in October 2016 and replaces ISO/TS 16949. WEEE Directive
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) is the European Community directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment. REACH
REACH is a European Union regulation dated 18 December 2006. It addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. Global Automotive Declarable Substance List (GADSL)
The GADSL list contains only those substances directly related to the automotive industry which have been regulated from at least one country. If any government environmental agency has deemed a substance to pose an environmental or health risk, the GADSL marks it as a “declarable” or “prohibited” substance, depending on the nature of the existing regulations. Ontario Toxic Reduction Plan Summary The Toxics Reduction Act of the Province of Ontario, Canada requires certain manufacturing and mineral processing facilities to examine how and why they use and/or create prescribed toxic substances and consider opportunities for reduction. Japanese Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL) The Japanese “Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc.” is better known as the “Chemical Substance Control Law” (CSCL), which is pronounced as “Kashinho” in Japanese.
